A friend of mine played Defender for 5 straight hours once. No record but we were pretty impressed.

This was my favorite when I was 17:

Arcade games ay?

Although not quite the same generation, I was a big fan of Stider.

The bosses were huge, even by today's norms (from a main character to enemy perspective).

This guy sucks (or maybe I'm jaded because I can practically play this game in my sleep).
Just skip the first two minutes.

It's funny I used to play arcade games a lot, there weren't many home games around when I was a teenager. At 200 bucks my parents couldn't afford an Atari (or didn't see any value in it). I didn't get into gaming at home until my later 20's when I could afford to buy my own Sega. Then it was Sonic and my personal favorite Biohazard Battle

Double Dragon 3 for the NES.

Never played it in the arcade, though.

Bio-Hazard Battle is a new one on me, but the google videos make it look pretty cool. I'll have to add it to my 'Flea Market grocery list' (that terminology doesn't sound as good as I thought it would).
I could go ahead and dl the roms, BUT IT'S JUST NOT THE SAME as grabbing an old cartridge.

You won't be disappointed G, very addictive. Biohazard Battle is even more fun on 2 player co-op except for fighting over power-ups

I still love this game. It took some time to master.
